Compulsory Traffic Insurance

Traffic insurance is a type of compulsory insurance in Estonia.

Every driver of a vehicle participating in traffic must have a policy of the compulsory insurance of the civil liability of the vehicle owners (traffic insurance). All issues in the sphere of traffic insurance are subject to "Trаffic Act".

Traffic insurance liability of a vehicle driver in case when a vehickle driven by the driver causes damage in a process of traffic (e.g. damage to a road sign, crash into a car which is driving in front, causing an injury to a passenger, pedestrian, etc.). In compliance with the Estonian Law, compenstaion of the personal damage is awarded within the limits of 500 000.- EUR to every damaged while compensation of the property damage – up to 2 500 000.- EUR regardless of the number of the third parties. This implies that in case You cause any damage to the third party or his property, all losses will be indemnified by the BTA – Your Insurance Company.
